Light Bulbs Brighten the First Day of Class

Clarkesville, GA – For the second year in a row, Georgia Power set up an information table at North Georgia Technical College’s Clarkesville Campus to help educate students and faculty on energy efficiency. Through the course of the day, Georgia Power gave away 650 Compact Florescent light bulbs in exchange for pledge cards indicating the changing of an incandescent light bulb for the newer energy efficient compact florescent light bulb.
“Having Georgia Power on our campus added to the energy and excitement of the first day of fall semester,” said NGTC President Dr. Gail Thaxton. “The students were talking about it in the hallways and through our social media. We at North Georgia Tech are committed to being good stewards of energy, and we greatly appreciate the long-standing partnership we have with Georgia Power.”
Georgia Power Key Account Manager, Tsali Bentley and his associate Karen Register were promoting energy efficiency by giving away free CFL light bulbs to students, faculty, and staff and passing along brochures that highlighted ways college students can conserve energy while living in dorms.
Karen Register, Key Account Support, and Tsali Bentley, Key Account Manager for NGTC, continually answered questions on why Georgia Power was concerned about energy efficiency. “The more energy efficient we can make our homes and businesses, the more cost-effective our energy becomes,” said Mr. Bentley.
