Blairsville, GA – Did you know that every 68 seconds someone in America develops Alzheimer’s disease? That’s right! Over 5.3 million Americans are currently diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Nearly 10 million Baby Boomers will develop Alzheimer’s and Georgia alone has 200,000 people currently with this disease. Of those 200,000 people, 28,000 live here in North Georgia.
Won’t you help us to END this dreadful disease? It all starts with YOU! “In May of 2011 I lost my mother and best friend to this disease and have made it my mission to help find a cure. Through research and education we can hopefully lower the numbers of people afflicted with the disease,” said Cheryl Damon, Team Captain of Bonnie’s Brigade.
Come help us on Sept. 7, 2012 at Southern Realty and Auction, Hwy 64, Hayesville, NC at 7:00 p.m. We have tremendous community support in the form of merchandise, gift certificates, and fabulous cakes from local bake shops. Come hungry to enjoy hot dogs, chili and baked goods. All proceeds go to the Georgia Mountain Walk to End Alzheimer’s for research and education.
The Georgia Mountain Walk to End Alzheimer’s is Saturday, October 6th, 2012 at the Fannin County Senior Center, 440 First Street, Blue Ridge, GA 30513. The Georgia Mountain Walk to End Alzheimer’s covers 11 counties: Gilmer, Pickens, Fannin, Union, Towns, White, Lumpkin, Dawson, Habersham, Stephens and Rabun.
