Young Harris, GA – In addition to supplying electrical power to Fannin, Towns and Union counties in Georgia and Cherokee and Clay counties in North Carolina, Blue Ridge Mountain EMC has long worked in partnership with local, regional and state organizations to help hundreds of companies make decisions to open new operations in our area or expand existing operations. These projects have injected millions of dollars into our local and state’s economy and created thousands of new jobs for Georgians.
So it’s not surprising that BRM-EMC has also partnered with the Community Council of the Georgia Mountain Research and Education Center to insure that it’s initiatives of Student Education, Adult Outreach and Preservation are fully funded.
In presenting a generous donation to the “Celebrate our Mountains” campaign, General Manager Matthew Akins remarked, “One of the important factors in economic development for tomorrow is the quality of education today. We are happy to support the Community Councils educational efforts in our 5 county service area.”
Accepting the donation campaign chair Joey Swanson said, “Blue Ridge Mountain EMC has a long history of community involvement and leadership. We are most grateful for their continued support of the Community Council efforts through our most recent campaign.”
The Council’s “Celebrate our Mountains” campaign began last September and is wrapping up this month. These annual campaigns provide all the funding of Student Education, Adult Outreach and Preservation Projects. If you are a business looking for a way to support your community or an individual who has benefited from the Council’s work, you can make a donation to the campaign by visiting our secure site at http://www.caes.uga.edu/
The Georgia Mountain Research and Education Center is part of the University of Georgia and its Community Council programs, which are 100% funded by community donations, serve Fannin, Towns and Union counties in Georgia and Cherokee and Clay counties in North Carolina.
