Hiawassee, GA – On 7-26-12, following up on an ongoing drug investigation, based on information gathered by Towns County Sheriff’s Investigators, a Fourth Amendment waiver search was conducted on a probationer at a residence off Hwy. 75 South in Towns County. Two agents from the Appalachian Drug Task Force (ADTF), deputies and investigators with Towns County Sheriff’s Office and a Georgia Probation Officer, conducted the investigation and arrested James Michael Dickert on multiple charges.

Sheriff’s Investigators described the scene as an apparent business set up. At the scene was an office, a desk, money box and product to be sold. Seized were bags containing suspected methamphetamine packaged for sale, as well as a larger bag with the same substance. A pipe ready for use containing suspected methamphetamine, an amount of pills, and an undisclosed amount of cash was found at the scene.

James Michael Dickert, (38), of Hiawassee, was arrested and charged with Trafficking in Methamphetamine, Possession with Intent to Distribute, and Possession of Methamphetamine. Dickert is currently on probation until 2018 for previous drug and gun charges.

As a part of most probationer’s condition of release, they must agree to waive their Fourth Amendment rights, as well as other conditions. This is in lieu of remaining in state custody in a prison. “Our office remains committed to following up on any and all information related to illegal drug activity, and this is another fine example of our deputies dedication to protecting our community,” Sheriff Clinton Stated.
