Drugs Seized in Towns County

Hiawassee, GA - In the early morning hours of Tuesday, May 1, Towns County Sheriff’s Deputies, assisted by agents from the Appalachian Drug Task Force, conducted a search warrant on a residence off Hwy. 76 east in the Streak Hill Community.
During the search, Towns County Sheriff’s Office K9 “Sarge” found what appeared to be nearly a pound of marijuana in a hidden area within the yard. Deputies and agents found a large amount of cash and several firearms within the residence.
Charles Christopher Ledford, (27), of Hiawassee was charged with Possession of Marijuana More than an Ounce, Possession with Intent to Distribute, Distribution, and several counts of Possession of a Firearm during the commission of a felony. Along with the suspected marijuana, the cash and firearms were seized as evidence.
No one else was in the home at the time of the search. Ledford’s bond was set at $45,000.
