Blairsville, GA - Union County residents can add shoes to their recycling efforts for a limited time.  From April 23 to May 25, individuals can take useable pairs of shoes to several locations in Union County for recycling.

Shoes can be dropped off at the Union County Courthouse, The Blairsville City Hall and The Union County Chamber of Commerce.

“We request that pairs of shoes be tied together by their shoelaces or rubber banded together and dropped off at one of the selected locations. They will then be collected by Keep Our Mountains Beautiful who will transport them  to Soles4Souls” said Leslie George, Director of Keep Our Mountains Beautiful.

Soles4Souls, the international shoe charity, announced their Turn Up The Sole campaign in Georgia today in partnership with Keep Georgia Beautiful Affiliates, The Georgia Recycling Coalition, 1-800-Got-Junk? and Whole Foods. The charity’s Earth Day initiative is connecting thousands of individuals around Georgia to recycle their new or gently worn shoes.

Keep Our Mountains Beautiful is proud to partner with the Union County Commissioner to be involved in this waste reduction effort.  This effort includes a philanthropic component providing shoes to people all over the world.
