Young Harris College to Present Concert Featuring Jazz Band Tonight

Young Harris, GA – Young Harris College’s Division of Fine Arts will present the Young Harris College Jazz Band in concert Monday, April 16, at 7 p.m. in Glenn Auditorium of the Clegg Fine Arts Building on the Young Harris College campus. The performance is free and open to the public.

The Young Harris College Jazz Band will perform a variety of music covering all styles of the jazz genre. Directed by Adjunct Instructor of Music Mike Campbell, D.A., the ensemble guarantees an evening of entertaining instrumental music featuring several student solos.

Student vocalist T’Arica Crawford, a freshman musical theatre major from Buford, Ga., will be featured during “When I Fall in Love” by Victor Young and “It’s Only a Paper Moon” by Harold Arlen. The program also includes “Spain” by Chick Corea, “Chameleon” by Herbie Hancock, “Here’s That Rainy Day” by Jimmy Van Heusen, “Buffalo Wings” by Mike Carubia, “I Get a Kick Out of You” by Cole Porter, “Better Get Hit In Your Soul” by Charles Mingus, “Birdland” by Josef Zawinul and “In the Mood” by Joe Garland.The YHC Jazz Band is comprised of David Agore-Iwe, alto saxophone, of Marietta, Ga., Sam Cook, alto saxophone, of Young Harris, Ga., Caitlin Davis, trumpet, of Baxley, Ga., Diantae Davis, baritone saxophone, of Acworth, Ga., Lane Dorough, piano, of Marietta, Ga., Sean Dorough, guitar, of Marietta, Ga., Cedric Epps, drums, of Talbotton, Ga., Rolando Fernandez, trumpet, of Canton, Ga., Kaleb Garrett, bass, of Hiawassee, Ga., Jeremiah Kersting, trumpet, of Sugar Hill, Ga., Cody Killian, piano, of Murphy, N.C., Timothy Linley, trombone, of Cartersville, Ga., Brian Montgomery, saxophone, of Powder Springs, Ga., Chris Simms, saxophone, of Cumming, Ga., Jeffrey Stewart, trombone, of Young Harris, Ga., Kaleb Swanda, trumpet, of Buford, Ga., Clint Vaughan, trumpet, of Talking Rock, Ga., Jake Wentzek, saxophone, of Blairsville, Ga., Sam Wolaver, trombone, of Mansfield, Ga., and Patrick Young, trombone, of Dawsonville, Ga.
